Greater Valley Forge Human Resources Association presents Bruce Zanar with Award for Distinguished Leadership

The Greater Valley Forge Human Resources Association has presented its President's Award for Distinguished Leadership to Bruce Zanar of Royersford.

The President's Award recognizes outstanding members who are respected and admired by the GVFHRA community and who have contributed significantly to the organization and the HR profession, according to the organization.

Immediate Past President Andrea Cabrelli said that not only is Zanar a long-standing and particularly active member of the organization’s board of directors, but he "provides us with innovative ideas from a marketing standpoint that we will be able to use for years to come. His creative thinking,” she said, “has taken the organization to a whole different level."

Zanar, founder of Motivational Marketing, an award-winning Royersford-based marketing, advertising and promotions firm, was involved with two GVFHRA Web site upgrades, improvement in newsletter content and conversion to an e-newsletter, online advertising and directory initiatives, and improved publicity and public relations activities.

"The more promotion we do, the more members we can get," Cabrelli said. "I have been hearing feedback from outside the organization, and I've got to believe from that, that we will have an increase in membership."

Zanar, a board member for more than eight years, was marketing, newsletter and Web site chairs, and was on the annual conference committee. He also is on the boards of the Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce, Compeer of Suburban Philadelphia and PBN, Professional Business Network. He is a member of the Suburban Horsham/ Willow Grove Chamber of Commerce, Philadelphia Direct Mail Association, Specialty Advertising Counselors of the Delaware Valley, and Promotional Products Association International.

Zanar held corporate marketing positions with a number of national companies and agencies before founding Motivational Marketing, which was named to the Philadelphia 100® fastest-growing companies in 2002 by the Philadelphia Entrepreneurs Forum, The Wharton School and the Philadelphia Business Journal. The company provides its marketing clients with uniquely creative promotion tactics and assists the human-resources community with employee motivation, recognition and retention programs, as well as internal and external branding initiatives.

Other awards include: 2002 Golden Pyramid Award for promotional campaign excellence (honorable mention), 2000 Golden Pyramid Award for promotional campaign excellence (gold), and 1995 AHMA Package Design Award.

Zanar received the award at GVFHRA’s annual membership dinner May 15 at the Sheraton Park Ridge in King of Prussia. Presenting it was previous winner Shannon Maroney Piela, president and CEO of HR Backbone in Phoenixville.

The Greater Valley Forge Human Resource Association Inc. is a nonprofit, individual membership association for human resource management professionals. Serving more than 500 members from companies in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania, as well as from New Jersey and Delaware, GVFHRA provides leadership, motivation, and education through chapter activities and affiliation with the Society of Human Resource Management.
